Silence

There’s plenty of quiet really, if you know where to look.

Before the sun blues the night sky, before my son begins to whimper, before the neighbors bang through their doors with full-bladdered dogs–there is a beautiful galaxy of silence. Eyes closed, I lose the gravity of my body; for a moment, I listen. Of course, my mind rushes to fill those fathoms of absence: what is for breakfast-can’t forget to run by the store-what will I text him back? But the immense quiet of those small hours can hold my endless mental loops and niggles. Each sound-bit falls into the galactic hush, dissolves.
